Georgia Governor Brian Kemp announces statewide tax refund proposal
WALKER COUNTY, Ga. (WDEF) — Georgians will soon receive some monetary relief.
Governor Brian Kemp has announced a statewide tax refund that will be giving more than a billion dollars to residents across the state.
This proposal would allow individuals to receive up to two hundred and 50 dollars for individuals, three hundred and 75 dollars for heads of households, and five hundred dollars for married couples filing jointly.
These are all based on 20-23 earnings.
Representative Mike Cameron of Dade and Walker Counties says this is only possible due to the Peach State’s economic growth.
“We have a lot of companies to open up shop, we’re the number one state for ten years in a row to do business, so we have more people coming in, more revenue, and being able to apply the revenue. We’re looking at things right now to help our farmers in Southeast Georgia because a lot of them were just totally wiped out, crops were damaged, so we’re looking at other means to help them as well,” said Cameron.
He expects the state legislature to formally approve the refund in January, and for refunds to be sent out in the Spring.
