Whitfield County authorities test raccoon for rabies after it was curled up at the courthouse

DALTON, Georgia (WDEF) – As if there wasn’t enough going on in Dalton for election day, Animal Control officers had to deal with a suspicious raccoon.

They got a call from the Sheriff about the animal curled up near the entrance to the Courthouse.

They captured it without incident.

But even though the animal did not attack anyone, they are testing it for rabies.

Animal Control reminds us that if you come into contact with a suspected rabid animal, don’t approach it.
