A fatal house fire claims 5 lives in Cohutta
UPDATE (1/8/2025): We’re learning more about the fire that claimed the lives of 5 in Cohutta, Georgia.
After speaking to the Whitfield County Fire Department Fire Chief, Paul Patterson, we’ve learned that the 911 call came in from one of the victims.
When crews arrived, they found the victims trapped inside, and the house was filled with smoke.
Three of the five victims were pronounced dead at the scene.
The remaining two were transported to a local hospital, where they later died.
WHITFIELD COUNTY, Ga. (WDEF) – A house fire in Cohutta claims the lives of five people early Wednesday morning.
The Whitfield County Fire Department is investigating a devastating house fire that happened on Tree Top Lane at around 3:30 A.M. Nine fire trucks and two battalion chiefs responded to the scene.
Whitfield County Fire Chief Paul Patterson said, “On behalf of the Whitfield County Fire Department, we extend our heartfelt condolences to the family who has experienced this unimaginable loss. We are fully committed to supporting the investigation into the cause of this fire.”
The fire is currently under investigation and authorities are working to determine the cause of the incident.
The identities of the victims have not been released yet.
