Whitfield County propane tank accident causes precautionary evacuations
TUNNEL HILL, Ga. (WDEF) – Residents on Pine Oaks Drive in Tunnel Hill are being evacuated as a safety precaution after a truck accident involving propane tanks caused leaks in the area.
The Whitfield County Fire Department (WCFD), Sheriff’s Office (WCSO), and Georgia State Patrol (GPS) are working on scene to secure the area and assist with evacuations.
WCFD have urged the public to avoid the neighborhood to ensure the safety of first responders and residents.
Authorities confirmed that residents will be allowed to return to their homes once the propane leaks have been contained and the area is deemed safe.
Emergency crews are continuing their work to mitigate the situation.
