2023 Amazon Murder Trial Continues Its Deliberation

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – In a significant update today, the trial of D’ante Jones, accused in the fatal shooting outside Chattanooga’s Amazon Fulfillment Center, presented critical evidence and statements to the jury.

After a day of hearing from the prosecution, the defendants were given the opportunity to present any new information to the jury.

The jury was able to hear from a psychiatrist who specializes in PTSD and spoke to the jury on how traumatic experiences growing up could have led Jones to commit this crime.

Rena Isen, Licensed Psychiatrist, stated that “Mr. Jones has intrusive thoughts about the traumatic event that he reported intrusive thoughts.”

“When someone has a traumatic experience… they have thoughts that bother them about the experience that can cause psychological distress for them,” Isen went on to say.

The prosecution continued to seek a first-degree murder conviction arguing that the shooting was premeditated.

But Jones’ defense team continued to push back as they claimed the footage from the scene did not tell the full story but rather proved an act of self-defense.

During today’s events, Amanda Dunn, Criminal Court Judge, stated that “there is ample evidence of premeditation at this point and further Mr. Jones mental capacity to premeditate. There is sufficient evidence to proceed on the charge of first-degree murder.”

As the trial of D’ante Jones nears its conclusion, both the prosecution and defense have made their final arguments, and now, the fate of Jones rests in the hands of the jury.

After days of emotional testimony, surveillance footage, and expert analysis, the courtroom is set to wait another day as the jurors deliberate on the charges against Jones.
