Siskin Hospital Celebrates 35 Years of Healing and Service to Chattanooga

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) —  Siskin Hospital is celebrating a remarkable 35 years of healing, thriving, and helping others. Throughout February, the hospital will mark this incredible milestone with events and reflections on how far it’s come.

Vice President of Patient Access and Marketing, Terresa, shared her thoughts on this special anniversary. “35 years is a long time, and just thinking of all the lives we’ve changed is incredible. Before Siskin Hospital opened, people had to travel to Atlanta or Nashville for rehabilitation. To have a facility like this right here in Chattanooga—it’s a gift for the community,” she said. “It’s wonderful that we are able to serve so many people right here at home.”

Since opening in 1990, Siskin Hospital has been fulfilling a dream that started with local philanthropists Mose and Garrison Siskin. What began as their vision has grown into Tennessee’s largest inpatient physical rehabilitation facility. Today, the hospital is also home to six outpatient clinics and the only medically-based health club in the Chattanooga area.

Terresa explained the beginnings of the hospital: “Siskin Hospital was the dream of two brothers, Mose and Garrison Siskin. They had Siskin Steel here in the community, and they wanted to give back by helping others. They set the plans in motion for this facility, although they sadly passed away before they could see their dream come to life. The fundraising and effort they started laid the foundation for the incredible hospital we all enjoy today.”

As Siskin Hospital celebrates its 35th anniversary, the team is reflecting on the legacy of healing and growth. And while they honor the past, they are looking forward to many more years of service to the Chattanooga community.
