Incline Railway repair worker injured in fall, rescued by firefighters
LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN, Tenn. (WDEF) — A worker making repairs on the Incline Railway had to be rescued by the Chattanooga Fire Department (CFD) after suffering a fall Wednesday afternoon.
The incident occurred just after 1:30 p.m. on February 26, 2025, as crews continued restoration efforts following a fire in December.
CFD responded to multiple points along the Incline and quickly determined that the worker was injured from the fall.
Firefighters, executed a vertical lift to hoist the patient 60 feet using a rope system.
Once secured, the worker was carefully maneuvered over the tracks and placed into a cart on a pulley system.
From there, firefighters transported him up the Incline, where EMS was standing by to provide medical care.
No further details on the worker’s condition have been released at this time.
