South Pittsburg Cornbread Celebration
SOUTH PITTSBURG, Tenn. (WDEF) – Get ready to fire up those skillets because South Pittsburg is once again the cornbread capital of the world! The 28th Annual National Cornbread Festival is back, and organizers are expecting a massive crowd.
The festival brings the streets of South Pittsburg to life with live music performances, setting the tone as visitors stroll through rows of vendor booths packed with one-of-a-kind crafts and mouthwatering food.
The event offers carnival rides, scavenger hunts, and hands-on fun for all ages. From cornbread tastings and cooking demos to historical tours, it’s a weekend that blends tradition, flavor, and community pride.
But what really sets this festival apart? Every bit of it is run by volunteers. That’s right. This major event is 100% powered by the people who call this community home.
It’s a true labor of love, and it shows in every detail, every dish, and every smile.
More than 15 committees work behind the scenes to plan and pull off this fun-filled weekend. And every dollar raised goes right back into the community through donations, local programs, and improvement projects that help South Pittsburg shine all year long.
The cook-off is sponsored by Lodge Cast Iron and features a live competition where the top ten finalists showcase their original cornbread recipes.
Whether you are a cornbread connoisseur or just in it for the fun, this is one weekend you won’t want to miss.
