Chattanooga notifies 836 individuals affected by NRS data breach
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — The City of Chattanooga has notified 836 individuals whose personal information was compromised in a data breach involving Nationwide Recovery Services (NRS).
Letters have been sent to all affected, outlining what data was exposed and providing instructions to enroll in free identity protection services offered by the City.
The Chattanooga City Council voted this week to rescind NRS’s contract renewal.
The Kelly Administration is also actively searching for a new provider for debt collection services.
Meanwhile, the Office of the City Attorney is considering legal action against NRS for allegedly failing to meet its contractual obligation to notify those impacted and provide assistance following the breach.
