Chatt Prep celebrates first cohort as all graduates accepted into college

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF)- Chattanooga Prep celebrated their first senior class Friday.

The school says their entire first cohort of 50 students have been accepted to at least one college or university.

This comes after uncertainty if they would be able to graduate on time due to issues with teacher and course verification.

All of that was discovered following the arrest of former teacher Kenya White for child sexual exploitation.

Hamilton County School had considered revoking the school’s charter, but decided against doing so after the school replaced its entire administration.

The school’s founders say the outside controversy shouldn’t take away from the students’ achievements.

Co-Founder Kelly Alling told the graduates, “I know some days have not been easy, and there’s been a lot of uncertainties along the way. But you’ve worked together as a team, to get to where you are today. We truly are one big family.”

The students have earned over two point five million dollars in scholarships.
