The Marines Who Died at the Hands of a Terrorist

CHATTANOOGA, TN. (WDEF-TV) – The F-B-I and local investigators are still not saying much about the shooter or his victims in Thursday’s attack by a homegrown terrorist.
But friends and families of the U.S. marines who died are making sure that America gets to know them and the sacrifice they made while defending the country.

Four marines lost their lives in that shooting on Thursday at the Naval Training station on Amnicola.
And for the most part, it was social media that provided details about the lives of the men who died at the hands of terrorist Mohammad Youssef  Abdulazeez.
The federal investigators have refused to mention their names—but we will.

Flags are flying at half staff here in Chattanooga and also at city hall in Springfield, Massachusetts for Gunnery Sergeant Thomas Sullivan. The governor posted his photo on facebook with the caption–"Terror comes home to Massachusetts."

Lance Corporal Squire "Skip" Wells was from Marietta, Georgia. He comes from a military family.

"I KNOW he was in ROTC in high school…he loved what he did."

Staff Sergeant David Wyatt is from Chattanooga. His wife Lorri has been communicating with friends and supporters by facebook.
Their Hixson home has been filled with visitors.

Sgt. Carson Holmquest was originally from Grantsberg, Wisconsin. He leaves a wife and a son.

The investigators have yet to identify two other people wounded in the attack, although the Marine corps has confirmed the names.
Our sister station in Johnson city, Tennessee reports that a caravan bearing the body of one of the young Marines passed through their area this morning headed north. .

The wounded include navy logistics specialist Randall Smith of Kansas. His grandmother says he saw the shooter and tried to warn others before being shot three times. He underwent more surgery Friday morning at Erlanger Medical center according to a family member.
The other military victim was a Marine corps recruiter, who still has not been identified. That person was shot in the ankle.
