The Wounded and Those Who Died

CHATTANOOGA, TN (WDEF-TV) – As you’ve heard, federal and local authorities are saying they will not release information about the people who have been killed or wounded.
But names are coming out as the local community responds to the tragedy.

BILL KILLIAN,U.S. ATTORNEY "These service members served their country with pride..and they have been victims of these shootings."

Those 4 victims were U.S. marines who were serving at the Naval reserve center on Amnicola Highway.
That followed the original shooting at a recruiting station on Lee Highway.
No information has been released about these marines.

ED REINHOLD, FBI, AGENT IN CHARGE "Because the families have not been notified, we’re still in the process of processing the scene..I’m not going to release any particulars about the victims."

But it was there at the Naval Reserve center where the marines died..and where the Chattanooga police officer was wounded in the leg.
He is Dennis Pedigo, a 16 year veteran of the force. He was rushed to Erlanger , had surgery and is said to be in stable condition.

CHIEF FRED FLETCHER, CHATTANOOGA POLICE "Officers of the Chattanooga police department and the Hamilton county sheriff’s office…responded immediately and they were able to make sure no further loss of life happened."

But, the eyes of the world and of course the stunned residents of Chattanooga are on the man now named as the shooter.

Here’s what we know.
He is 24 year old Mohammad Youssef Abdulazeez. We know he has family members here..and has lived her for some time.
UTC reports that a man with that name graduated with an engineering degree in 2012. His home is in Colonial Shores in HIxson.

As you know Addulazeez died in the shootout with police and sheriff’s deputies.

Authorities say three people were wounded, one of them was the officer, no report on the names and conditions of the other two, or where they were when wounded.

But, its still a developing story and will be for weeks to come.
