Early morning fire destroys vacant Dalton home, fire officials say

DALTON, Ga. (WDEF) —  Crews with the Dalton Fire Department (DFD) responded to a house fire on Fairview Drive early Wednesday morning.

DFD arrived at 500 Fairview Driver close to 5:00 a.m. and found a vacant house fully engulfed in flames.

Firefighters were able to get the flames under control and put the fire out.

DFD says the house is likely a total loss.

The cause of the fire has yet to be determined, however, DFD said it appears the fire started in the basement.
