OCOEE, Tenn. (WDEF) —  There’s so much to do in Polk County, Tennessee.  From whitewater rafting to hiking, the community is known for outdoor adventure.  Destination Ocoee has several standout businesses known for making your experience to the area special.  We’re featuring a local ice cream shop called “SCOOPS”.

“I’m a well-traveled person. I’ve been around the world, and I was in Florida and we had a major hurricane come through, and I evacuated up here in my RV. I was looking forward to seeing this area. Had no idea of the river and the valley was here, and it’s absolutely gorgeous. I ended up being a transplant here, due to the hurricane and I love it. I lived here at the Whitewater RV Park for several of those years and had the opportunity to work here. And when it came time for her to sell the business, I took that opportunity, and it’s been a very nice move,” said Barb Dilling, the owner of Ocoee Scoops.

“Ocoee Scoops offers 24 flavors. We have high quality ice cream that we get from Michigan. It takes some time to get here so it’s not something we just, you know, get next door. We also do homemade waffle cones, Belgian waffles. We have fresh fruit toppings as well as the caramels. And the hot fudge is we have, some beautiful sundaes. We do brownie sundaes. We have a pina colada sundae. We also do milkshakes. Floats, banana splits. And that is the difference between us and other shops. You can come in and see what we have. We do samples, and the ice cream is just top notch. So in my very near future, I’m opening, up a little bakery area with cupcakes and cookies to enhance the ice cream. Our hours are weekends Thursday 2 to 8, Friday, Saturday and Sunday 11 to 8, and we will be open late into fall. Looking forward to doing some fall treats, and we’ll be closed for the holidays and reopen again in spring. Look forward to seeing you,” said Dilling.
