A group of volunteers working at Warner Park to build a hammock on the Day of Caring.

One such project was the construction of six frames for hammocks to be placed inside of Warner Park.

Volunteers from HHM and Unum along with those on their own came out to help build these hammocks, which are being funded by a grant.

Organizers say this is an example of how the community can come together.

Austin Aderholt, the Volunteer Coordinator for Chattanooga Parks and Outdoors, said, “I think Day of Caring is super important because right now the thing we need the most here in Chattanooga is a sense of community, and volunteering is a great way to build that community and give back to all kinds of organizations in town, whether that be non-profit or Parks and Outdoors like these folks here.”

There are plans to place hammocks in other parks across the city.
