Government shutdown could have local impact
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — The Government shut down at midnight Tuesday.
That means many federal agencies could see an impact in funding and staffing.
At point park on Lookout mountain, we saw locked gates and no rangers to be found. That didn’t stop some people from finding a way inside.
Federal court dates, passport processing, and other services could see slowdowns if a deal is not reached soon.
Postal services are funded separately and should not be uninterrupted.
Chris Hopkins Co-Founder Apogee Wealth Partners told us, “A lot of the impacts remain to be seen. Contingency plans have not been announced in every instance and it’s still very early days. Early hours, in fact. So we’ll see in the next few days, hopefully days, possibly weeks how the impacts start to stack up.”
Many federal employees will be furloughed while the shutdown continues.
