Medicare Open Enrollment Starts Today
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – Medicare’s Annual Enrollment Period runs from October 15 through December 7, giving beneficiaries a chance to review and adjust their health coverage for 2026.
This is the only time each year when people can make changes to their Medicare plans.
Premiums, deductibles, and prescription drug coverage can change annually, which may affect out-of-pocket costs.
Those with Original Medicare can explore supplemental options such as Medicare Advantage plans or stand-alone prescription drug plans.
Many Medicare Advantage plans now include extra benefits like dental, vision, hearing, transportation, and even meal delivery after hospital stays.
Gary Culp, a Medicare expert, says it’s important to compare coverage details, such as costs, provider networks, and prescription access, to ensure the plan meets individual needs.
The enrollment window closes December 7, and any changes made will take effect January 1, 2026.
