Chattanooga Zoo teaming up with Chattanooga Area Food Bank
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — The pause in SNAP benefits due to the government shutdown left many in the Chattanooga area struggling to make ends meet and keep food on the table.
The Chattanooga Food Bank put out a call to action for additional donations to help those affected by the freeze in assistance.
The Chattanooga Zoo is teaming up with the Chattanooga Food Bank to help meet that increased need.
Jake Cash, Director of Marketing and Communications for the Chattanooga Zoo told us, “So we’re doing a food drive throughout the entire month of November at Chattanooga Zoo. Basically all you need to do is bring a non-perishable food item and you can one dollar of your zoo ticket. So for your entire group, bring one food item per person and everyone will get one dollar off their zoo ticket. And that is just for general admission at the zoo, not for the Asian Lantern Festival which starts on November 21st and is an after-hours event.”
You can make a donation directly at the ticket counter when you come visit the Chattanooga Zoo.
