Hwy 58 VFD responds to Birchwood house fire
HAMILTON COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF) — On November 12, a homeowner called 911 reporting heavy smoke in their home in the Birchwood area.
At 4:40 a.m., Highway 58 Volunteer Fire Department responded to 12424 Birchwood Pike.
They arrived on the scene within minutes reporting fire on an exterior wall and heavy smoke pouring out of the home.
Once firefighters confirmed everyone was out of the house, they conducted an interior attack and found fire crawling up the bedroom wall and extinguished it quickly from getting into the attic.
Another team of firefighters extinguished the fire on the exterior wall of the home.
No injuries were reported but HCEMS was on the scene for any potential injuries to the first responders.
Highway 58 VFD Fire Chief, Mark Hutchings, reported the cause of the fire was an electrical disconnect from the HVAC unit.
The house received minor damage to the home.
