Man violates sex offender registry by communicating to minor over Xbox

HAMILTON COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF) — A local man has been arrested for violating the sex offender registry after it was discovered he was speaking to a minor over Xbox.

Daniel Hendley, 37, was arrested by the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday, November 18, 2025.

On October 22, 2025, a routine search led officers to discover that the defendant had multiple unregistered accounts, including Xbox instant messenger, a tablet with a different number, a Discord profile, and a Twitch profile, according to an affidavit.

He faces the following charges:

  • VIOLATION OF SEX OFFENDER REGISTRY
  • VIOLATION OF SEX OFFENDER REGISTRY
  • VIOLATION OF COMMUNITY SUPERVISION FOR LIFE
  • VIOLATION OF COMMUNITY SUPERVISION FOR LIFE
  • VIOLATION OF COMMUNITY SUPERVISION FOR LIFE
  • VIOLATION OF COMMUNITY SUPERVISION FOR LIFE
  • VIOLATION OF COMMUNITY SUPERVISION FOR LIFE
  • VIOLATION OF COMMUNITY SUPERVISION FOR LIFE

On August 2, 2014, Hendley pled guilty to Aggravated Sexual Battery against a minor.

He was sentenced to twelve years in the Tennessee Department of Corrections.

Hendley was also sentenced to Community Supervision for Life.
