CFD Responds to Partial Building Collapse in Downtown Chattanooga

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — The Chattanooga Fire Department responded to a partial building collapse on the corner of Houston and E 11th Street on December 2.

According to the CFD, “a back portion of a vacant building had crumbled overnight or early this morning.”

Public Works says a collection of water on top of the building caused the collapse and ultimate wall failure.

Houston Street between E 10th Street and E 11th Street will be closed until further notice.

No injuries were reported.

CFD, CPD, Public Works and other city officials responded to the scene and sealed off the area.
