Protest Held Over Venezuela Conflict
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – Demonstrators gathered at Miller Park on Sunday in response to the ongoing conflict involving Venezuela and the United States.
The gathering followed recent international developments involving the Venezuelan government and U.S. actions that have drawn global attention. The situation continues to evolve.
At the park, participants held signs and shared opinions about U.S. involvement overseas. We spoke with a U.S. citizen and military veteran who said he supports President Trump’s decision regarding the situation.
We also spoke with another U.S. citizen who said they side with Venezuela and oppose U.S. involvement, citing concerns about the country’s sovereignty and the potential impact on civilians.
Recent developments include a U.S. military operation in Venezuela, which resulted in the capture of President Nicolás Maduro and his wife.
The U.S. has indicated Maduro will face charges in New York, and Venezuela’s Supreme Court named the vice president as interim leader while the situation remains uncertain.
The demonstration remained peaceful, with participants using the public space to engage in discussions, exchange informational materials, and highlight global events that have drawn U.S. attention.
As developments continue abroad, the protest reflected how international events can prompt local response.
