Dayton lawyer censured over notary public investigation
DAYTON, Tennessee (WDEF) – The Tennessee Supreme Court has censured an attorney practicing in Dayton.
The censure involves Carrol Ann Barron in a notary public case.
The Board of Professional Responsibility accuses her of misleading officials by forging a signature in a notary case.
She need to notarize her client’s signatures for a property transfer.
But her stamp was not in her office.
The investigation claimed she used her assistant’s stamp instead and then signed the name of the assistant.
They say she did not indicate that she was signing someone else’s name with permission.
The Public Censure is just a rebuke of the attorney’s practices.
It does not affect her ability to practice law.
