Signal Mountain Police community members to stay indoors and avoid roadways

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – News 12 spoke with Signal Mountain Police earlier today regarding current weather conditions on the mountain.

Officers are asking community members to stay indoors and avoid roadways unless travel is absolutely necessary.

Detective Sergeant David Holloway said crews have been working tirelessly to clear roads, respond to downed power lines, and restore power throughout the area.

“Right now there is ice on pretty much all the back roads. Crews are also working on Taft Highway. There are many power lines down because of the ice in both the town of Signal Mountain and Walden County, so we are stressing that everyone stay inside.”

Police say anyone who does not need to leave their home should remain indoors.

For those who must travel, officers urge residents to use extreme caution as crews continue working to improve conditions and protect public safety.
