Reflection Riding to conduct prescribed burn; trail system closed Tuesday

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. –Reflection Riding Arboretum & Nature Center will conduct a prescribed burn on Tuesday, February 17.

They say locals may see smoke in the area throughout the day, but there is no cause for alarm and that the burn is a carefully planned and professionally managed operation.

They say Reflection Riding’s entire trail system will be closed for the day to ensure safety.

“Prescribed fire is one of the most effective tools we have to steward our landscapes in an ecologically responsible way. “By intentionally reintroducing fire under carefully controlled conditions, we can restore native plant communities, reduce invasive species pressure, and create healthier, more resilient habitat for wildlife. These burns are essential to sustaining biodiversity across our campus.”
