Signal Mountain Fire Department responds to brush fire

SIGNAL MOUNTAIN, Tenn. (WDEF) – Today around 2:00 p.m. the Signal Mountain Fire Department responded to a reported brush fire on Georgia Avenue.

According to the fire department, the brush fire happened when a homeowner was using an outdoor fire pit and shifting winds caused the surrounding grass to ignite.

Later, the fire traveled to the exterior siding of the residence.

They say crews deployed a bumper line and initiated fire suppression efforts, successfully extinguishing the flames.
