Keeping our community safe individually

MONROE COUNTY — Monroe County Emergency Services are reminding individuals about how they can keep our community safe.

They say public safety isn’t just the job of first responders — it’s a community effort.

They provide a few simple ways you can help:

*Report suspicious activity — If you see something that doesn’t feel right, say something.
*Obey traffic laws — Speed limits, school bus stops, and move-over laws protect everyone.
*Use 9-1-1 appropriately — Call 9-1-1 for emergencies. Use non-emergency numbers for routine matters.
*Be a good neighbor — Look out for one another, especially the elderly and vulnerable.
*Prepare your household — Know your address, teach kids how to call 9-1-1, and have emergency plans in place.

Safety starts with awareness. It grows through responsibility. And it thrives when a community works together, they say.
