One Year Since Timothy McSears Was Last Seen in Lafayette
Lafayette, GA (WDEF)- It has been one year since Timothy McSears was last seen at his home on McSears Drive in Lafayette.
The Walker County Sheriff’s Office says McSears was last seen on March 6, 2025, and was reported missing two days later.
Investigators say the anniversary of his disappearance continues to weigh heavily on both law enforcement and the community.
Brandon Barkley, a detective with the Walker County Sheriff’s Office, says the case remains difficult for many people connected to McSears.
“It is the one-year anniversary of his disappearance. It’s heavy on the hearts of the sheriff’s office and his family,” Barkley said. “He is a loved member of the community, and his disappearance is heartbreaking and suspicious.”
What began as a routine missing persons report quickly turned into a large-scale investigation. Over the past year, investigators say they have followed hundreds of leads, conducted numerous interviews, and organized searches across Walker County and nearby areas.
Barkley says several factors early in the investigation raised concerns and led authorities to treat the case more seriously.
“The timing of the phone calls and the last time he was seen gathering firewood — all those things raised suspicion and escalated this case from a missing persons case to something more severe,” Barkley said.
Despite those efforts, investigators say there has still been no confirmed trace of McSears.
Authorities are continuing to ask the public for help. A reward of up to $10,000 is being offered for information that leads to McSears’ location.
Steve Wilson, Walker County Sheriff, is urging anyone with information to come forward.
“Let us make that decision,” Wilson said. “Don’t be afraid to send something in. You can communicate with us 24/7.”
The Walker County Sheriff’s Office says anyone with tips or information about the disappearance of Timothy McSears is encouraged to contact investigators.
