Unattended cooking causes overnight kitchen fire
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – Early Saturday morning at 1:07 a.m., Chattanooga family was displaced by an overnight kitchen fire that got out of hand.
According to the Chattanooga Fire Department (CFD) firefighters responded to a reported residential structure fire in the 2300 block of Wheeler Avenue.
They say that unattended cooking was the cause of a kitchen fire that quickly began to spread.
Firefighters reported heavy smoke coming from the home and encountered heavy fire in the kitchen as they made an interior attack.
While CFD says their visibility was challenged, they were able to confine the majority of the fire damage to the kitchen area.
There were no injuries.
Red Cross will be assisting the family which include, one adult, two teenagers, and one dog.
