DALTON, Ga. (WDEF)- Both candidates in the runoff election in north Georgia attended a town hall on the subject of forever chemicals Monday evening.
Clay Fuller and Shawn Harris made the joint appearance at PFAS Georgia’s event in Dalton.
While neither of the candidates spoke to the crowd on the topic, their presence was praised by the organizers, who say they are trying to fight chemical companies who have contaminated water and soil across the region.
They say that both of them being present is a sign of how this issue transcends political lines.
Attorney Ben Finley, who works with PFAS Georgia, said, “It’s just huge to have them both here because this is an issue for Georgia and it’s a national issue. We have two very credentialed people, one of which will be in United States Congress soon, and this is just huge in terms of bringing awareness.”
Famed activist Erin Brockovich, who was unable to attend tonight’s meeting, is expected to be in Rocky Face tomorrow.
We plan to be there and dive further into the current state of the forever chemicals crisis in North Georgia.
