Humane Educational Society hosts Kelly’s 5th annual Adopt-A-Thon

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – The Humane Educational Society hosted its fifth annual Adopt-A-Thon.

The event honors the late Kelly McCoy, a popular local radio personality and passionate animal advocate.

Community members were able to apply two days in advance for early access to adoptions.

The Humane Educational Society also waived all adoption fees for the day.

Several pet vendors provided free resources for newly adopted pets, including one free week of doggy daycare.

Jeanine Cloyd, Director of Development, explained that McCoy used her platform to help promote shelter animals and connect them with potential adopters.

“She did something called Kelly’s Pet Project. That’s where we focused on one dog each week on the radio station. They still carry that on today, and it’s still Kelly’s Pet Project.”

Many community members continue to view McCoy as a champion for animals and animal welfare.

Those who missed the event but are interested in adopting or fostering a pet can learn more through the Humane Educational Society.
