Joey Aguilar hosts Youth Camp at East Hamilton High School
CHATTANOOGA, TN.- Former UT Vol and current Jacksonville Jaguar Quarterback, Joey Aguilar hosted a youth camp at East Hamilton Highschool for kids of all ages.
“Yeah there’s Tennessee fans and kids all over not just Knoxville so to branch out and you know try to, I’ll make the commute rather than the kids going to Knoxville or or to Kingsport.” says Joey Aguilar, former UT Vol Quarterback.
Aguilar was excited to teach the kids some football skills, but he is hoping that they also learn something else from him .
“Really just trusting yourself, coming out of high school I kinda look at other people and you know see them pursue at the next level that just showed me. Everybody has her own time and everybody has her own journey. If you try to compare yourself to somebody else you know their story different than yours don’t try to compare yourself some time that you know they might get somewhere fast than you but when that journey is going slow, my teach you something that the other person didn’t.” says Joey Aguilar, former UT Vol Quarterback.
Going into his rookie year in the NFL, he also expressed how moments like this are surreal and he is enjoying every minute of this.
“You know it’s a dream come true and you know as a kid not knowing if I was gonna make it to this level. And I’m finally at this level. It’s really, you can’t put words to it. You just go out there and have fun. It’s a game that I’ve been playing my whole life.” says Joey Aguilar, former UT Vol Quarterback.
Nerves can be high going into a position like Aguilar, however he says his new teammates and coaches have been beyond helpful.
“It’s been great thank you to those coaches for believing me and honestly the quarterback room in general you know Trevor, Nick, and Carter have been a lot of help for me coming in there thanks for those guys you know I got a question they help me out and the coaches like I said for believing in me so I’m excited to see what the season holds and what the NFL has in store.” says Joey Aguilar, former UT Vol Quarterback.
The former Vol has been enjoying putting these camps on in the state of Tennessee and hopes that kids will see that if he can do it, so can they.
