CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — The Hamilton County Health Department is warning of Cyclosporiasis.

They say Cyclosporiasis is a rare intestinal illness that can be transmitted through contaminated food or water.

According to the CDC, cases of cyclosporiasis have been reported in multiple states across the country, including Tennessee.

Although most people recover, symptoms such as diarrhea, stomach cramps, and nausea can last for days or even weeks.

They say to protect yourself, make sure to wash your hands regularly, thoroughly rinse fresh produce, and practice safe food handling.
