Ooltewah High School Threat Prompts Extra Security

Ooltewah, TN (WDEF) – Extra officers will be on patrol at Ooltewah High School next Tuesday after the school received a threat from an unknown individual that said “I will shoot up the school.”

Here is the letter sent to parents and students from Principal Jim Jarvis:

Dear Parents, Guardians and Students of Ooltewah High School,

Due to the fact we have had an individual choose to write “I will shoot up the school” March 1, 2016, we are being proactive in dealing with the threat.

We will have extra officers on duty on Tuesday, March 1, 2016, in an effort to enhance the safety of our students and staff.  The situation is being investigated and at this time a suspect has not been identified.  We take these threats seriously and anyone involved with this type of activity will be punished to the fullest extent of the law.

We thank you and have a good weekend.
