GA shoplifting suspect abandons baby at store
SAVANNAH, Ga. (AP) – Police in Savannah are looking for a woman who they say abandoned a baby at a grocery store.
The Savannah-Catham Metropolitan Police Department says in a news release that Monday evening, a loss prevention officer saw 31-year-old Iesha Reed at the grocery store, which she had previously been banned from. The officer recognized Reed and suspected her of shoplifting. As the officer approached Reed, she left the store – leaving behind an infant she had been watching.
A Department of Family and Children Services agent responded to care for the infant, who was later returned to his mother.
Police are still investigating the incident. Arrest warrants are currently pending for Reed, who is described as a black female, 5 feet 6 inches tall and about 200 pounds.
