Cherokee Sheriff charges man with North Carolina knife attack

MURPHY, NC (WDEF) – The Cherokee County, North Carolina Sheriff’s Department has made an arrest in a stabbing on Sunday Night.

They got the call from a resident in Andrews saying a man was laying on their porch, bleeding.

They found 30 year old Cody White “in a near lifeless condition.”

He was treated at the scene and then flown to a Chattanooga hospital.

After examining evidence and talking to witnesses, officers arrested 54 year old Jackie Slaughter.

Sheriff Derrick Palmer stated “We are still investigating this crime and so far have no indication as to what provoked Slaughter to commit the assault on Mr. White. As we know Jackie Slaughter is no stranger to the judicial system in Western North Carolina. We are grateful for excellent team work by everyone concerned. Because we are a small community being able to call upon outside assets and join them with local is a real blessing.”
