LaFayette investigating possible serial arsonist after latest fire
LAFAYETTE, Georgia (WDEF) – Another mysterious fire in the town of LaFayette, Georgia has authorities convinced they are dealing with a serial arsonist.
The latest blaze happened last night at an abandoned building on West Villanow Street.
Luckily, a person driving by saw the smoke and called firefighters.
They contained the blaze to just one room.
But today, the LaFayette director of fire services, Stacey Meeks, tells us this seems to be the latest in a string of suspicious fires.
May 3rd, Summer St.
May 26th, Villanow St.
June 21st, N. Main St.
The first two were also abandoned buildings, but the June fire was set at the Hammond-Jones Hardware store.
Here is our story on that investigation.
