Cherokee County sex offender arrested again

MURPHY, North Carolina (WDEF) – A convicted sex offender gets arrested again in Cherokee County, North Carolina.

Investigators say he failed to tell the Sheriff’s Office that he had moved.

27-year old Justin Ryan Barber was convicted in 2008 for Incest.

He was scheduled to appear in court last month on a probation violation charge.

Investigators say he failed to appear.

Detectives found out Barber had moved to the Hiwassee Dam Community.

Deputies say he tried to escape when they arrived at that home.

Barber also has an outstanding warrant in Georgia.

He was arrested this week on charges of failure to appear on a felony probation violation, and with being a fugitive from justice.
