Former Moc Terrell Owens Highlights 20 Inductees Into Chattanooga Sports Hall of Fame
Chattanooga-(WDEF-TV) Last summer we saw former Moc Terrell Owens conduct his Pro Football Hall of Fame speech right here in Chattanooga. Monday night, the Alabama native highlighted 20 new inductees that went into the Chattanooga Sports Hall of Fame.
Said Owens:”Lot of people were like how did you escape from under the nose of Alabama and Auburn? But honestly, I wasn’t that good in high school. Just the opportunity Chattanooga game me to really obviously pursue a career obviously in football. To be here in Chattanooga. Not being able to go home during the summers because we just couldn’t afford transportation going up and down road. I literally was on campus throughout the summer going to the mini-mart. I was eating Roma Noodles morning, noon, and night. That’s how I got by. I look back on my career, and I talk about desire, dedication, and discipline, that’s what really got me to the point of where I am today. Obviously in the Pro Football Hall of Fame. I’m in the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame. Now I’m in the Chattanooga Sports Hall of Fame.”
Reporter:”Been any changes in your life since the (Pro) Hall of Fame?”
Said Owens:”Um. No. Another Hall of Famer has said it. All you get is a gold jacket, a bust, and a ring. And so again, outside of that, not much really changes.”
Reporter:”Is that the (Pro Hall of Fame) ring you have on now?”
Said Owens:”Yep. This is it. I try to wear it on a few special occasions. Definitely being inducted into the Chattanooga Sports Hall of Fame. This is one of those times.
I’m a great testament and a great blue print for kids across the country that you really don’t know or have a road map or a blue print of what you become or what you can do. But if you just keep sticking with it, and that’s what I did.”
