Residents Take Advantage of Drive-Through Flu Shots

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — A Chattanooga church wants to help keep residents healthy.

That’s why Mt. Canaan Baptist teamed up with BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee for its community outreach day.

There, folks could dispose of unwanted prescription pills for National Drug Take Back Day, shred old documents, and get “drive-through” flu shots.

Church members tell News 12 they wanted to make it easy for people with busy schedules.

“This is flu season. A lot of people are uninsured. They may not have access to the vaccinations. This is a great way to come and get that, even get information, you know, why is it important to take a flu shot, and just the convenience of it,” said Katherlyn Geter, Mt. Canaan Baptist Church.

There was also a fun area for the kids, plus a place to pick out fresh produce.
