HSCO Receives New Training Equipment for K-9 Units

HAMILTON COUNTY, Tenn. – The Hamilton County Sheriff’s K-9 Unit now has some new training equipment all thanks to the Chattanooga Dog Agility Club.

“We went to these guys and found out what they needed to make training and the execution of their job easier, better, and safer”, said Angie Jennings Play Dog Excellence partner and Chattanooga Dog Agility Club member.

All the equipment is top of the line and is valued at more than 3000 dollars.

Some of the donated items include: muzzles and quick release leashes.

Each tool will aid in the dog’s obedience and skills.

Sheriff Hammond said there is the tools are much needed.

“There’s so many new techniques and new crimes are out there that the canines can assist with especially in the world of drugs and search in rescue we see them a lot. We use them a lot when we’re doing crowd control.”

Sheriff Hammond added that he is extremely proud to have people in Hamilton County that want to help out however they can.

“That just shows the enthusiasm the residents have in this community. They know the value these dogs have in helping us in law enforcement.”

The Chattanooga Dog agility club also paid for training courses for the entire K-9 officer team.

The club’s membership fees and agility competitions helped make all of the donations to the department possible.
