Public Radio star Garrison Keillor latest fired for “inappropriate behavior”
MINNEAPOLIS, Minnesota (WDEF) – The former host of “A Prairie Home Companion” radio program is the latest casualty of an “inappropriate behavior” investigation.
Minnesota Public Radio has cut business ties with Garrison Keillor.
He retired from the program last year, but continued to produce the “Writers Almanac” for syndication.
Keillor worked for MPR for more than 50 years.
The company says the allegations surfaced last month.
They go back to the Prairie Home Companion days.
As a result of the investigation, the current version of the program, hosted by Keillor’s successor, Chris Thile, will get a new name.
Also the network will stop running repeats from when Keillor was involved.
Keillor continues to write books and tour based on the Prairie Home Companion model.
He last appeared in Chattanooga back in September.
"It's some sort of poetic irony to be knocked off the air by a story, having told so many of them myself, but I'm 75 and don't have any interest in arguing about this," Keillor told the AP https://t.co/q01Ygb2xve
