Police investigate Fort Payne shooting

FORT PAYNE, Alabama (WDEF) – Investigators are interviewing a person from a shooting Sunday in Fort Payne.

Police found a man was already dead at the scene when they were called to an altercation and shots fired on Gault Avenue North.

The victim was 44 year old Randell Jerome Meyers from Mount Vernon.

They say the person in custody was involved in the altercation.

Fort Payne Police  have not filed charges at this point.

Chief David Davis says the results of their investigation will be presented to the District Attorney’s Office.
