Salvation Army works to reach yearly fundraising goal

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – The Salvation Army says they are down about 15 thousand dollars in their kettle fundraising efforts this year.

But they are hopeful with the help of the community they can make that up by the 23rd.

They have made it easier to give by adding card readers at select locations, like the one here at the food court entrance at Hamilton Place Mall.

To use your card, it is a 5 dollar donation and volunteers with the organizations say they hope the “dip and go” option helps them come back from the deficit.

“When you give at the kettle, you are giving a family in need hope , something that they so desperately need. Parents right now at struggling with keeping the lights on and keeping the lights on and keeping the children fed. Being able to give them a gift on Christmas morning is enough to make a kid realize that hope is alive.”

Tomorrow all day…. News 12 will be participating in the Battle of the Bells.

That’s where all Chattanooga news stations will compete for the common goal of helping the Salvation Army reach its goal this year.

We will be outside of the food court at the Hamilton Place Mall.
