Crews changing Hwy 27 MLK exit, again

CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – Road crews will be changing the ramp configurations again in the U.S. 27 widening project.

This time, the changes affect the on-ramp for 27 North from MLK Boulevard and the off-ramp to 4th street.

Traffic coming up the MLK ramp will now be forced to stop at Hwy 27.

The exiting traffic to 4th Street (from Hwy 27 northbound) will now to directed to a new ramp before crossing 6th street.

The new exit will be narrow with a 15 mph limit.

And TDOT recommends using the MLK exit whenever possible to ease traffic.

The work starts at 7 PM Wednesday.

And the changes begin Thursday morning.

ONE MORE WARNING!

TDOT is lowering the speed limit for the stretch on 27 between Main Street and 4th.

It drops from 45 to 35 mph.

The new pattern will last for about two months.
