CPD sponsoring crime prevention training for businesses

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — The Chattanooga Police Department is sponsoring a free crime prevention training program designed for business owners and managers.

The department says the 4-hour program is for those who are interested in making their facility and employees as safe as possible.

A University of Tennessee’s Law Enforcement Innovation Center Crime Prevention Specialist will cover numerous topics including lighting, access control, video surveillance, emergency management, glazing, environmental design, and more.

In a release, Chief David Roddy says, “By empowering our business community with the tools and knowledge to better protect their places of business, employees, and themselves we are making our city a safer place for our community members and visitors to shop, visit, and play.”

There are four sessions being offered.

• February 26, 2018 at The Edney Innovation Center, 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
• February 27, 2018 at The Edney Innovation Center, 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
• February 28, 2018 at The Edney Innovation Center, 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
• March 1, 2018 at The Family Justice Center, 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
