Chattanooga based National Guard Unit coming home

Dayton & Chattanooga units have spent the last 10 months deployed in the Middle East

SMYRNA, Tennessee (WDEF) – The Tennessee Army National Guard announced on Tuesday that the 1st Battalion, 181st Field Artillery Regiment is coming home from a ten-month deployment to the Middle East.

They will come in two waves through the Smyrna Volunteer Training Site this week.

Around 195 Soldiers are scheduled to fly in on Thursday, with the remaining 140 scheduled arriving on Saturday.

The 1-181st is headquartered in Chattanooga, with units in Dayton, Pulaski, Lawrenceburg and Fayetteville.

The took part in Task Force Iron Valor, spending time in six different Middle East countries under U.S. Central Command.

The soldiers are now demobilizing at Fort Bliss, Texas.
