Perdue: “If you want it fixed, you’ve got to get me elected” governor

David Perdue makes gubernatorial campaign stop in Dalton

It’s day one of David Perdue’s gubernatorial tour and his second stop on the tour just happened to be in Whitfield County talking to the people of Dalton.

“For 135 years since Reconstruction, we never had a Republican governor until 2002 when people like us stood up and said ‘That’s enough,’ and we made our power felt by voting. This time, we’ve got to make our power felt by what?…Voting. We can no longer just be mad. If you want it fixed, you’ve got to get me elected. It’s that simple.”

Getting elected requires votes, and there were several people at this event that told News 12 that those won’t come without election integrity. Perdue says he has a plan for that.

“The number one issue up here is voting integrity, and so I want to tell you what I want to do about it. I want to form a full-time , paid for law enfrocement division – this is an election law enforcement division – inside the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.”

To make that a reality, Perdue would have to beat incumbent governor Brian Kemp in the May 24th primary, and then likely-Democratic candidate Stacey Abrams in the midterm election in November…

“What I’m doing is taking my message that you heard tonight to the people of Georgia. They have a choice. If they come out and vote, I’ll be happy with their decision.”

Perdue believes that whatever the results are of the gubernatorial election in Georgia, they will have ramifications far beyond this year.
