Necropsy results: Raccoon NOT burned alive
Chattanooga, TN (WDEF) – Wildlife officials investigated the case of a raccoon that was reportedly burned alive.
The report was that a volunteer firefighter found the animal at the Highway 58 department.
He shot it, then burned the body, not knowing if it was alive or dead.
If alive, it could have been a case of animal cruelty.
But the Humane Education Society send the remains to the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary medicine for a necropsy.
It found that the raccoon was indeed killed by the bullet.
No charges will be filed against the firefighter for animal cruelty but the TWRA will file separate charges against the firefighter for not turning in the body to authorities.
