One chase, 3 states this weekend

It was all over a stolen 1996 pickup

JASPER, Tennessee (WDEF) – A chase over the weekend involved participants in three states.

Authorities say a Georgia driver ran from police in Tennessee and is now in jail in Alabama.

It all started on Friday morning in Jasper with the theft of an old pickup truck.

The 1996 Chevy 1500 was taken from a parking lot of Collins Building Material.

It belonged to an employee.

Then on Saturday, it was spotted on Highway 41 by an off duty detective.

But when the officer tried to stop it, the vehicle fled.

The chase went through several counties and towns before ending in Jackson County, Alabama.

Christy Lee Sharader of Trenton was taken into custody.

She is waiting extradition back to Marion County, but will have to make a stop in Dade County where she has outstanding warrants on drug charges.

The pickup was returned to the owner, but with some damage from the chase.
